The Tategami region is situated at the innermost reaches of Ago Bay, which is famous both for being the home of pearls and also because of the Ise Shima rias coastline. These geographical features make it a suitable habitat for pearl oysters and pearl cultivation is popular for this reason.

It is 100 years since Koichi Mikimoto started cultivating cultured pearls. The Tategami region has experienced a generation of pearl cultivation since the early Showa era until the present day. There were times of great prosperity as the industry became entrenched locally over that time.

The cooperative was established in 1963, and we have thrived to produce superior quality pearls since that time.

We currently have 84 fulltime members and boast the largest production in the Mie Prefectural region.

We have started proactively selling pearl products with the Mie Brand mark. Producers place priority on handpicking high quality products, and prices are set at a discount to the market.

We welcome you to peruse our high quality Japanese oyster pearls from Mie Prefecture.
